31/3 Seaguy Week! VIVA! EL MACHO!

VIVA! EL MACHO!

VIVA! EL MACHO!

Music and vocals GM produced and arranged by Jay Ruin

My favourite of the Seaguy songs Jay and I created is this anthem to parodic masculinity that appeared in Seaguy: Slave of Mickey Eye when Seaguy is manipulated into assuming the identity of the famed ‘bull-dresser’ El Macho.

This vision of swaggering machismo conjures a male paragon, the anti-Andrew Tate! Here is a man who commands the respect and adoration of the entire cosmos from the bugs in the dirt to the galaxies!

I played acoustic guitar and sang the lead, everything else is Jay Ruin.

With the Disney influence in mind, I was thinking here of a boasting song, a faux-Latin version of something like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast - and again the insistent melody is built around the paranoid pulse of a 2-note police siren.

He is strong, he is brave, even worms in the grave

Raise their heads from the beds of the dead and wave

‘Viva! El Macho!’

He is handsome and tall, all the creatures that crawl

Raise their eyes to the skies where the flies

All call

‘Viva! El Macho!’

And sweet as the honey the hive and the bees make

His kisses are sweeter than chocolate and cheesecake

The sun in the sky has no rival till he wakes!

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho is mine!’

He is loud, he is proud, every thundering cloud

Has no choice, with one voice, to rejoice aloud

‘Viva! El Macho!’

He is bright as the light that calls time on the night!

He is too cool for school! As a rule -

 Just write

‘Viva! El Macho!’

Fireballs and stardust the wonders of heaven

The galaxies too they would all be forgiven

For shining less brightly while he goes on living

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho!’

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho!’

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho is mine!’

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho!’

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho!’

Sing ‘Viva! El Macho is mine!’
