Loving these annotations as always! A few extra recommendations for works of fantasy that I can add to my burgeoning ‘to-read’ list. And now a desire to go back and re-read a whole bunch of Elric books!
I have already petitioned DC for an Absolute GL by Morrison & Sharp and will continue to do so!! I’m sure my clout as a lowly UK comics retailer carries *such* weight with them... ;)
Grant! Another spectacular annotation episode, and after a more than timely reread of the entire GL run, i must say yours and Liam’s story is definitive alongside Geoff Johns. Yours and Liam’s story dazzles with superb humor, jaw-dropping visuals, dynamic character development, world-building galore, and the almighty will across a multi-season story arc. Blackstars was a personal favorite, especially with the meta-commentary on the DCU, and S2 perfectly wrapped up all the threads in S1. My favorite issues of the run were all of them! Brava.
I'm glad to hear you enjoy Joshua Williamson's work. He seems to be the writer who is trying his hardest to continue the framework you left DC. And while I don't always agree with some of his choices, like Kathy Kane, I appreciate and enjoy the writing he's been doing this past year.
The aspect of this which created the most significant flashing across my synapses is the fact that you Put Horns on Hector Hammond --
Because that quite clearly IS, •exactly• what he perceives himself and His Story So Far...., suffering victimisation at the cruel hands of the seducer Hal Jordan, to be.....
