Immediately went to Amazon to look for this collection, but no joy. And I’m in a comics desert. Well, when I get off work and back on my PC, I’ll check Lonestarcomics dot com.
thank you for the comic suggestion/recommendation! we must get our slimly little fingers on a copy of these!
writing with heart is all I want to do in life and the excerpts given hover closely to a lot of work we do in our sketchbooks. Oh how my Dreamer soul is so naive to think eventually everyone will carry out the same will to preserve life even if much of reality seems to be persistent on the opposite. But crushing reality will never stop us!
Thank you, maybe I’m sentimental, but I don’t think Marvel and DC are as nuanced as they used to be. I need to reread Legion of Superheroes # 31 by the Birbaums, Giffen, Doran, Swan, Kesel and Gordon. The Element Lad trans story was so provoking, well drawn, and well written. It capture Jan Arh’s journey without the modern pandering and politicizing. I miss those stories!
I read these off the stands back then, but now you're inspiring me to revisit for the first time since.
One note: Damon Lindelof on WATCHMEN, not Abrams.

RAY: I did get something on that ‘Vigo’ character you mentioned — Found it in Leon Zundinger's "Magicians, Martyrs and Madmen". Dig that.
EGON : Vigo The Carpathian, born 1505, died 1610.
VENKMAN: 105 years old. He hung in there, didn't he?
RAY: He didn't die of old age, either. He was poisoned, stabbed, shot, hung, stretched, disemboweled, drawn and quartered.
VENKMAN: Ouch.
WINSTON : I guess he wasn't too popular at The End.
EGON : No, not exactly a Man of The People — Also known as Vigo The Cruel, Vigo The Torturer, Vigo The Despised and Vigo The Unholy.
VENKMAN: Wasn't he also Vigo The Butch?
RAY : And dig this! There was a Prophecy, just before His HEAD died, His Last Words were :
"Death is but A Door,
Time is but A Window;
I’LL Be BACK —"
