For a previous story, ‘Weaponworld’, retitled ‘Operation Overkill’ and published in D.C Thomson’s Starblazer #45 from 1981, I’d created an interstellar private detective character, known simply as ‘Kayn’. Blinded in an anti-matter accident, the former Star Corps officer wore special glasses which allowed him to see, and took on bizarre cases to pay his rent or cover another instalment on the upkeep of his ship’s ion engine.
