LIBRARY artefact #036
ON THE 7th DAY OF XMAS…
Watch out for the swans! They can break your legs with one flap of a wing and their beaks shoot lasers!
If, like all reasonable people, you’ve been enjoying Rian Hughes’ remarkable Xanaduum Tarot card designs and look forward to the inevitable completed, printed deck some time in 2024, today’s advent door flaps open just for you to display a few of my preliminary sketch ideas for the deck.
I supply some written description along with these blurry, out of focus glimpses of distant imaginary worlds, then Rian trains his creative hyper-lenses on the conceptual territory and sharpens up the details to a dazzling sheen while bringing new and unexpected particulars into view.
Basically, if I’m a pair of sturdy binoculars, he’s the James Webb space telescope!
Here, then, are some amateur snaps I’ve taken of the inner sky, direct from my errr… seasonal notebooks!
Your festive fate awaits!
